Getting to Catignano

A hilltop village 31 km from Pescara. The festival fills the old town around Piazza Marconi, and in the evening you can really only get here by car: roads, parking and shuttle are all below.

Old town closed to traffic

All the festival streets were closed to traffic and parking, residents included: from 17:00 to 03:00 on Friday, from 17:00 to 05:00 on Saturday.

Via Belvedere (SR 602) with alternating traffic

Alternating one-way traffic controlled by traffic lights, at 30 km/h, with no parking and tow-away on one side from 16:00, and volunteers on watch. The reason: the “usual” queues from Pescara and Chieti.

The order also allowed the festival to be postponed in bad weather.

Accessibility

The old town is beautiful but awkward: stone, slopes and lots of people. Better to know before you come.

Piazza Marconi East square Madonna delle Grazie ~3% · 218 m ~7%

Stone setts

Corso Umberto I, Via Roma and Piazzetta della Posta are paved with stone setts: uncomfortable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, and slippery in the rain.

Slopes

From Piazza Marconi to the east square it is almost flat: −6 m over 218 m, about 3%. Towards Madonna delle Grazie it goes down at about 7%.

A few tips

  • With a wheelchair or pushchair, stay on the Piazza Marconi – east square axis: it is the flattest stretch.
  • Come as soon as the stands open: with fewer people it is easier to get around.
  • There is a drinking water fountain in Piazzetta della Posta.
  • Toilets, first aid and the info point: their 2026 locations are still to be confirmed by the Pro Loco. To be confirmed
